Nerodia Sipedon - Common Water Snake
We spotted this specimen while swimming in the Cheat River in St George WV right at sunset paired with it's mate.
While these are considered one of the most aggressive snakes in the state of West Virginia this one paid me no mind even when standing right next to it and taking these close ups using a selfie stick.
This is just the start of the summer and we look forward to finding many more species this year.
